I've started to think about where I want to earn my PhD. I need to keep it on the cheap, so in-state would work best. Unfortunately, Michigan is not known for it's PhDs in computer science, except for the University of Michigan, of course.
U of M is one of two place I'm currently looking at. The other is Michigan State. Both offer a lot. Western tries to get people through the program in four years, which would be great for me, but they don't do the research I would want to get into.
I'm still looking into my options. I suppose I should make a list based not on money, but on what I want to do while earning the degree. This means I need to figure out what I want to focus my research on.
