The Journey Continues

Time for an update.  Rather, long past time for an update.  Here are the short term goals I listed previously:

Begin working through Lojban tutorial three hours every week
Study my GRE flashcards and learn them before July (review after roadtrip)
Determine what general area I want to focus on while working toward my PhD
Buy low level computer science book and begin reviewing fundamentals
Start filling out outline of 4L book.

I haven't spent any time in the last month working on Lojban.  My mind has been focused on the PhD.  I'm actually starting to wonder if I'm losing interest in it.  I hope not, as I still think it would help me get into a PhD program.  I haven't looked at my flashcards, either.  I don't have an excuse, as it would very much help me get into a PhD program, even more than learning Lojban.

I have had more success with number three.  I have found ten programs so far, and that list seems to be growing.  I need to step back and examine each program versus what my overall goals are.  I have my low level computer science books and some math books to help me get through them.  And while I still have the outline for the 4L book, I haven't started filling anythig out.  I did, however, expand upon myphilosophy, which will be discussed later in its blog.

New Goals:
Determine what subgoals are the most important for earning my PhD and focus on those.
Study my GRE flashcards and learn them before July (review after roadtrip)

Determine what general area I want to focus on while working toward my PhD
Register for math class (trig) at local community college for this fall

Subgoal one is related to subgoal three (and dependent upon it).  Two and four are independent of the other goals, so I can start them sooner.  One thing I want to do is take the GRE more than once, possibly including the Computer Science subject test.  I don't know if I'll be focusing all that much on Comp Sci during my PhD, but it would give me a good idea of how well I know the subject.
