I was thinking earlier about how to shine during the admissions process, despite my lack of research experience. One way I could stand out is to take an optional GRE subject test. Since cognitive science falls mostly under psychology, that would be the first one I would think of. But then I want to create my cognitive architecture using dynamical methods, which would point out the mathematics subject test. But then I want to actually program the cognitive architecture, which steers me toward the computer science subject test.
Allowing reality to step in, I don't have the right backgrounds for either the psychology or mathematics subject tests. And I know I would have a difficult time with the computer science subject test, even with my major and Master's. I think I'm going to hold those in reserve for now.
