I've been thinking about the different groups I can join to help me with my Grand Project, and for my future work in academia.

Cognitive Science Society
This group has a conference each year, the next one being next weekend over in Portland.  This is the first one I would join, except the membership is automatically up for renewal on December 31.  It makes much more sense to wait until January 1 to join.

Cognitive Neuroscience Society
This group is even more in alignment for what I want to work on.  Their next conference is in April in San Francisco, which I plan on going to, though it's more of an annual meeting than a conference.  I will be joining them very soon.

Organization for Computational Neuroscience (OCNS)
This is another group aligned with my academic aspirations.  Their next annual meeting is in July in Stockholm, Sweden.  That would be interesting to go to.

Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI)
I was a member of this group for years, before I started working in the private sector.  They offer both a conference and workshops.  The next conference is next August in San Francisco.  There is also a workshop in November in Arlington, though I might not be able to attend that one.

Association for Computer Machinery
I was also a member of this group for a number of years.  They sponsor a number of conferences and have a plethora of academic articles that I would find useful.  I would also join their SIGART special interest group.
