Another area I'm thinking about is what I want to do professionally. My current job is not thrilling, well paying, or pushing me forward. Actual development work is down, so I've taken, literally, 25 computer-based training (CBT) courses this month. Some of those were required, but others were actually useful. I've 'studied' for the A+ certification, relearned C programming, and focused my developmental pursuits on Agile Methodologies. As much as I'm learning, it is getting boring.
So what do I want to do next? That's kinda what I'm trying to figure out. I want to work with C programming and move toward embedded Linux. But part of me also wants to work on data analysis, which is distantly related to what I do now (before I ran out of work). I know I could work on data analysis (a good job, applicable in many industries) professionally and move toward embedded Linux on my own. I would need to take a stats class, but I kinda want to anyway. Yes, I know I'm weird.
Other than that, and the JET program, which I can stay to a maximum of five years, I really don't know what I want to do. But as long as I stay away from Plan J, I'll be all right.
